Northwest Pennsylvania
We adventured north from Virginia to spend a day in northwest Pennsylvania: a sweet mix of rural landscapes and small towns and home to the Allegheny National Forest, the heart of Pennsylvania's oil and gas economy.
Our time was short and our focus was (socially distanced) visiting with Jim’s dad and his wife, but we managed to fit in the important things like a sunset pizza picnic on Lake Erie, an afternoon snack of frozen custard from Hank’s, and some delicious in-season corn with dinner.
Jim and I didn't meet until college in Massachusetts, but we both have roots here in western PA. Both of my parents grew up in Oil City and I was born there. Jim grew up only about an hour away in Edinboro. It's crazy to think we had to wait until college in Massachusetts to meet and fall in love!
You can find beauty in every corner of this country. Sometimes I forget just how beautiful it is.
