Wow. Wow. Wow. Looking back, I clearly had no idea what this trip would be like. No idea at all.

Read MoreBoquete is a small, quaint town not far from the highest point in Panama, Volcan Baru (11,100 ft). Honestly, it's just the right pace for us as a slo-mad location. I really loved that it didn’t feel touristy and that every person greeted us with a smile and friendly “buena” or “buen dia” as we passed by.
We even got to experience our first earthquake while living here.
Read MoreThere aren’t a ton of marked trails in the area, but there are a ton of unmarked trails to explore for an adventure. We (mostly) stuck to the known trails in the area and it was enough to keep us entertained. Especially since every hike brought new sightings and experiences.
Read MoreI have a long list of questions that I send to potential Airbnb hosts before we book a stay. A past blog post, Finding the Perfect Airbnb, from almost a year and a half ago first referenced it. But it has grown considerably since then!
Read MoreWow, there are a lot of rainbows around here! After a week here, I can almost tell time by the rainbows I see out our Airbnb window. Each evening I go into the kitchen and start working on dinner and each evening a rainbow or two greet me.
Read MoreWe popped back to the states for the month of December and had a chance to see snow (thanks, Denver) and lots of family and friends. And remember the joy of Christmas decorations!
Read MoreIf you know me, you know my birthday is a big deal to me. Such a big deal that we celebrate birthday MONTH, not just the day, or a weekend. Jim surprised me with a drive along the panoramic route and organized a hot air balloon ride. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for the hot air balloon ride, but who cares about canceled hot air balloon rides when you have Kruger right next door.

Although in this case, all six tents were occupied, which gave it a very different feel with lots of socializing at lunch and dinner.
Read MoreCan this really be true? Yes, indeed it is. Does this mean we’ll stop traveling? Of course not, but it does mean that our travel will change. And we couldn’t be more excited about this next chapter in our journey!
Read MoreWhen our agent asked if we were interested in a walking safari and staying in a fly camp, I don’t think any of us paused before saying, yes, please!
Read MoreFrom Lewa Conservancy, we made our way on another scheduled chartered flight to the Masai Mara area in Kenya, specifically to Kicheche Valley Camp in the Naboisho Conservancy.
Read MoreWe were sad to leave Rwanda, but excited for our next stop: The Lewa Conservancy. Lewa is known for its rhino population, both black and white. This would be my mom and Kel's first “real” safari outside of South Africa. I was as excited about going on safari as I was to share the experience with them.
Read MoreEighteenish months ago we visited Rwanda and trekked to the gorillas for the first time. It was such an amazing experience, we just had to do it again with my mom and Kel along for the adventure.
Read MoreOur time in Malta has come to an end. Five weeks went by fast. I'm sad to leave the sun, cliff views, and constantly feeling like I'm in the middle of a GoT set, but we are excited to head off to safari with my mom and Kel! Plus, I’m ready for a change of scenery. I’m glad we took five weeks to explore the island, but we definitely didn’t need more than that.
Read MoreHiking in Malta means views. Constant views of the water and plenty of cliffs! There isn’t a whole lot of variety though.
